Whether you are looking for an event, festival, show or even just to drive around the Alberni Valley to see beautiful Christmas lighting displays, it is easy to get in the holiday spirit in Port Alberni!
The City of Port Alberni is a huge proponent of keeping it local during the holidays and we couldn’t agree more. The Alberni Valley Chamber of Commerce & Visitor Centre does a great campaign every year to promote shopping local during the holidays. This year the campaign is called Try Home First where the Chamber is stopping in at local businesses to catch people shopping local. When they do they are presenting them with a $100 gift card to another local business. Check out all the details for the in the Alberni Valley News. Maybe you will be one of the lucky winners!
In Port Alberni you don’t have to go far to enjoy outdoor winter activities, especially with Sproat Lake right here in our backyard! As a popular summer destination, many of us forget how great of a spot this is during the winter months for snowshoeing, skating and snowmobiling and lots of other activities. Check out the Sproat Lake Provincial Park website for updates on this park.
There are also lots of fun family-friendly events and things to do leading up to Christmas in Port Alberni, including visiting heritage landmarks, like the Alberni Pacific “Steam” Railway – a great adventure and experience for the whole family.
And don’t forget to stop by the decorated Rollin Arts Centre on Friday, December 18 from 6 p.m. – 8 p.m. for Christmas Caroling.
