The Koszegi’s Tiny-Home Construction and Adventure

No matter how busy life gets, we try to make time as a family to hit the open road together, build campfires, toast marshmallows, make s’mores, and tell stories underneath the starry skies; with the hopes these will be passed on to the next generation. We are believers that the memories made on family camping trips are both lifelong and unforgettable.

For those of you who don’t know us, we are the Koszegi’s, a Port Alberni family consisting of Dave (Dad), Erin (Mom), Matteo (son), Julia (daughter) and Francesca (daughter). Every summer, we pack up enough belongings for the weekend, and embark on an annual camping trip in our Westfalia Volkswagon van to Hornby Island, a Salish Sea island located

Have you ever heard of stand up paddleboarding - also known as SUP? The width of the board makes it easy to stand on, but balancing yourself in an upright position sure provides a full-body workout!

Last weekend, SUP pros from all around the province gathered in beautiful Port Alberni to compete in the annual Alberni Canal Downwind Challenge. Port Alberni’s waterfront was booming as observers gathered to check out the competitive SUP race from China Creek to Canal Beach, as well as participate in the fun relay race (for those not so steady on the paddleboard) and indulge in some sweet treats offered by local vendors.

Drinkwaters Social House had their official opening last week at Sproat Lake Landing, which was met with great success! Dave and his family attended and were thrilled to see the venue was packed and full of happy customers. Drinkwaters was created in response for a local demand for a best-in-class dining experience in the Alberni Valley, and offers a relaxed lakeside lounge overlooking the beautiful Sproat Lake as well as a more refined dining room with a view of the majestic Mount Arrowsmith.

The social house works closely with local farmers and suppliers to provide a farm to table approach to their menu, which their Chef Jackson calls a ‘rustic focus’. Choose form 8 different beers on tap or select a bottle of BC’s finest wines to complement your

Whether this is the first or 5th property you’ve been ready to sell, you already know that sealing the deal requires a lot more than a handshake.

The reasons why people choose to sell their homes vary, but most sellers share one common goal: to sell their home for the highest amount possible and as quickly as possible. And the fact of the matter is that generally speaking, pricing your home accurately will help you accomplish both of those goals as effectively as possible - savvy buyers will know when a home is reasonably priced, or not.

A well-priced home often generates interest straight out of the gate, and will allow sellers to earn maximum value for their

The Dave Team thrives on helping first-time buyers to get their footing on the first rung of the property ladder. Home ownership is invaluable, giving you and your family a sense of stability and security, as well as making a sound investment in your future. Simple repairs

Let's face it, sometimes time can get away from us! When selling a home, we don't always get around to redoing that bathroom, or replacing those cabinets, or any of the other ideas that passed fleetingly as ways to increase the resale value. Now showings are starting to line up and between picking up the kids from school, or reaching that deadline at work (or both!) it's a wonder we have had any time to get the place tidied up for a viewing.

But this is where taking an afternoon, or a weekend, and getting the whole family involved can be well worth the effort. Decluttering your home is just one way that it can shine for potential buyers and help move your family through the process quickly and smoothly.

Here are a few quick fixes that can help…

Alberni Valley Bulldogs

As long-time hockey fans, and sponsors of our local Bulldogs, we love to keep tabs on the team and get out to our home town games at Weyerhaeuser arena whenever we can. The Bulldogs are currently a Junior "A" ice hockey team and members of the coastal conference of the BC Hockey League, which is considered one of the top junior hockey organizations in North America.

The team has a history of nabbing coveted awards and trophies from Best Sportsmanship to Defense, Rookie of the Year and MVPs. The Bulldog's also have NHL alumni including Michael Teslak, Harry Zolnierczyk and former Bulldogs coach of the year, Jim Hiller, who is currently the assistant coach of the Detroit Red wings.

We have much to be proud of with this strong and dynamic young team
